Penn Attorneys was organized and chartered as Penn Attorneys Title Insurance Co. (PATIC) in 1980 by a group of Erie County attorneys whose goal was to provide a reliable and efficient alternative to other title insurers. By 1982, Penn Attorneys expanded its service beyond Erie County and through continuous growth, now serves Attorneys in all areas of Pennsylvania.  

Acquired by First American Title Insurance Company in October of 2003, PATIC maintained its identity as a Regional Underwriter working exclusively with Approved Attorneys.  In 2009, Penn Attorneys merged with Ohio Bar Title Insurance Company, another well-respected member of the First American family.  The union was a good fit as both began as bar-related title insurance companies and shared a similar mission: to keep the real estate attorney at the settlement table.   

From its 1980 inception as a domestic, bar-related title insurer to becoming a part of the First American family of companies, Penn Attorneys has proudly served Pennsylvania attorneys, providing them with reliable title insurance products and underwriting guidance for the real estate transactions they handle for both their lender and owner clients. 

In early 2019, the underlying insurer for Penn Attorneys was transitioned to First American Title Guaranty Company where the tradition of same day service and unparalleled support continues.
